Luke: We have been in Spain for 24 hours. I don’t know what I was expecting, but it’s very crowded. The city streets seem more crowded than the airport. Oh the airport, well, it was only when Maudette and I were trying to find out way out to a cab that I found that Maudette hadn’t checked any bags. She also has this massive tote and a purse. I’m not sure what’s going on. Once I grabbed my bag though, we headed to the hotel. Luckily, Maudette knows Spanish, but I feel like she talked about me to cab driver all the way there. He kept looking back at me and laughing.
We checked in to the UMusic Hotel Madrid and found tickets from SL in our room for a concert at the hotel… yes, at the hotel! This is a seriously awesome concept. I mean, the hotel itself was incredible and gorgeous, but having a venue in the same place is incredible. Oh, the tickets were for Christina Branco. It’s definitely a different style of music that I’m used to, but it was fun.
When it was time to go down the concert, Maudette showed up at my hotel room door (thank you, SL, for TWO rooms) in a dress that I swear was made of 3 green sequins. Maudette is usually pretty buttoned up at the office, so this was pretty off putting. And, she was barefoot. I mean, I’ve heard of women getting tired of their heels at the end of the night going barefoot, but she just started this way.
During the concert she kept handing me drinks, which hit pretty hard since the jet lag was still kicking me in the rear. I must have had too many because I the next thing I remember was waking up back in my room. I checked for my wallet and phone and everything was secured, so I guess the night went well.
But, here is a little gossip, as I was heading down the hall to find some tylenol, I saw the very songstress we saw on stage last night coming out of Maudette’s room. What was that girl thinking?
Tonight, we open the envelope with our new location. But, I am really enjoying Madrid… well, the hotel is all I’ve seen so far. I’m planning on seeing if Maudette is up to getting some lunch soon. I heard there is this great restaurant, El Albéniz, around here. Maybe it’s in the hotel? Well, check in later!
